Each house here answers the pendant question differently, and naming the difference is the fastest way to shop the range. Hermès works in hardware: shapes borrowed from clasps and locks, including the pig nose, a shrunken bag outline, an H letter and an OT toggle worn deliberately at the front. Bvlgari works in geometry — the stepped Divas’ Dream fan, the B.zero1 spiral, the coiled Serpenti head, all built from clean repeatable forms. Dior works in charms and letters, hanging a CD pendant or a bow with a D from a pearl choker or a chain.

• Leather appears only on the Hermès cowhide tag, in four colours, and it reads noticeably less formal than any metal pendant here.
• Ceramic and full-diamond finishes both turn up on the Bvlgari pieces, giving the same silhouette a matte or a bright surface.
• Pearls belong to the Dior side of the range, as chokers and charm chains rather than as pendants.
• Lobster clasps run through most pieces; the OT toggle is the exception and is part of the look.

Choose one instinct and stay with it. A Bvlgari fan and a Hermès toggle worn together are two different arguments about what a necklace is for.
